Anambra’s Post December 25th, 2018 Traffic Alert

Management of vehicular traffics in Anambra state prior to the Christmas day Celebration 2018, have been worthwhile, engaging and revealing.

Good number of agencies in the state volunteered to help and our roads wore great looks as the marshals were always on hand controlling traffics at major flashpoints across the state.

Anambra is among the eight most populous states in Nigeria with over seventy percent of her communities as either urban or semi-urban areas. This factor has ostensibly pushed traffic jams away from cities to communities in the state.

And inline with the directives of Gov. Willie Obiano of ensuring free flow of traffics in our communities this yuletide; the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, Sir Uchenna Okafor had on Dec. 24th, met with the Transition Committee Chairmen of all the Local Government Areas in Anambra State at Awka.

The Commissioner at the meeting highlighted the need to manage traffics in our localities this yuletide stressing that the governor had provided adequate Security, and according to him "we must do well by ensuring that our brothers and sisters who came home for the celebrations, enjoy every bit of their stay".

Okafor enjoined them to monitor the activities of traffic marshals posted to their various Local Government Areas.

Commenting on community efforts in managing traffics, the Commissioner observed that in the course of monitoring traffic around the state, he realized that Enugu-Ukwu and Abatete communities mobilized their people to major junctions in the communities where they control traffics. He commended ndi Igwes of the communities, their PGs and others that contributed to that wonderful initiative.

Furthermore, Okafor used the occasion to call on the leadership of other communities to emulate Enugu-Ukwu and Abatete, pointing that if all communities could mobilize and manage vehicular traffics in their localities like the duo did, Anambra would be better for it.
