Nkpor Modern Car Park Commissioned.
The governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano today commissioned the Ultra Modern Nkpor Under Flyover Car Park for public use.
The governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Honourable Commissioner for Transport in the state, Hon Uchenna Okafor, reminded the market leaders, and Nkpor community of the state government's drive to decongest the roads in the state.
The Commissioner who observed that before Obiano's administration, the whole area was enmeshed in a beehive of uncontrolled activities and the traffic gridlock was ceaseless. But since the state introduced the "Operation Move Motorists to Parks", serenity had returned.
Speaking further, Hon Okafor told the people that the project was aimed at ensuring free flow of traffic in and around Nkpor. He said that it is now convenient for buyers and sellers, who trade and buy goods and services at the Nkpor Main market, New Spare Parks, Mgbuka and others, now have a place to park their vehicles while they carry out their businesses in these markets.
Okafor who further observed that before the MoU signing with the company that managed the project, Business Links Ltd, under this flyover was a den for criminals, a dumping ground for trash and other sundry objects, thanked the company for keeping by the dictates of the contract entered with the state government.
Commissioner Okafor admonished the members of the public to always make use of the park rather than parking along the road pointing that as usual, any vehicle parked along the roads will be towed by the officials of Anambra Traffic Management Agency (ATMA).
In his address, Hon Asher Nnabuife, Chairman, Idemili North LGA appreciated Gov Willie Obiano for his efforts in driving huge investments into the state. He observed that with this Modern Park, criminals will have no place to hide anymore around the park, and no traffic gridlock would be witnessed again.
In his thank you speech, the Secretary of Amalgamated Traders Union, Anambra State, Mr Chuma Eruchala appreciated Gov Obiano for the security he restored in state, saying that it had led to many states coming into Anambra to buy goods. Mr Eruchalu observed that the Union has a good working relationship with the state and pleaded that it continues.
